Introduction

Voltage ("we", "our", or "the app") is an electric vehicle monitoring and control application for Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Chevrolet Bolt (2017–2023), and Chevrolet Spark EV. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the app.

How the App Works

Voltage connects to your vehicle through an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter (such as ELM327 or vLinker MC). Vehicle data is read directly from the car's diagnostic systems and displayed on your device. The app operates primarily offline — your vehicle data is processed and stored locally on your device and is not sent to any server unless you explicitly choose to share it.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or any third-party data collection frameworks.

Vehicle Data

The app reads vehicle diagnostic data through the OBD2 port, including but not limited to:

This data is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us or any third party unless you explicitly opt in to share it (see below).

Optional Data Sharing

Diagnostic logs: With your explicit consent, you may send diagnostic logs to the developer to help troubleshoot issues or improve the app. These logs may contain device information, app state, and vehicle diagnostic data. You initiate this action manually each time.

Aggregate vehicle statistics: The app collects non-personal vehicle information such as car model, model year, battery capacity, odometer, and isolation readings. This data is used for aggregate statistics that may be shared with other users. No personally identifiable information is included. On first launch, you are asked to review and agree to these terms. You can opt out at any time in the app's settings.

In-App Purchases

Voltage offers optional premium features through in-app purchases processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information — all billing is handled entirely by the respective platform.

Bluetooth and Hardware Access

The app requires Bluetooth permission to communicate with OBD2 adapters. On iOS, the app uses the External Accessory framework to connect to MFi-certified adapters. These permissions are used solely for vehicle communication and not for any other purpose.

Data Retention

Vehicle data stored on your device remains under your control. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

If you choose to send diagnostic logs, we retain them only for as long as needed to resolve the reported issue, after which they are deleted.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data during normal app use, there is typically no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. However, if you have shared diagnostic logs or statistics with us, you may:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below.

Children's Privacy

Voltage is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is designed for vehicle owners and operators.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect any data you choose to share with us. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-Party Links

The app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
